JOB TITLE: Registered Nurse (Inpatient) eICU Critical Care

The Registered Nurse assesses plans, organizes, performs, and evaluates nursing activities to meet the needs of the patient. Promotes adaptive responses of patient/family to achieve the highest level of patient care, promote safety, and maximize patient satisfaction. Exhibits compassionate care during patient-nurse interactions. Coordinates patient care and interaction of staff. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in their assigned nursing unit.
The critical care/eICU Registered nurse will work with colleagues remotely assisting nurses at the bedside which allows for teaching, mentoring and providing patient care across the system and outreach hospitals. Assesses plans, organizes, performs, and evaluates nursing activities to meet the needs of critically ill patients who are admitted to the critical care units and eICU. Works as a member of the eICU and bedside clinical staff team(s) to provide optimal care for patients via teleconferencing and hands on bedside care. Responsible for providing ICU nursing care to a diverse population of critically ill patients across multiple ICUs at various hospitals. In the eICU, remotely collects, monitors, and analyzes patient and family data for the purpose of assessment and care management. Uses appropriate support tools and software systems to identify patients at risk for potential clinical problems, and communicates assessments to eICU Intensivists (from 7pm 7am).
Responsible for ensuring the very best patient/family experience by optimizing all interactions. Foster a positive work environment through mutual support and cooperation and adheres to GHS and unit specific Service Standards.
Reports directly to the Operations Manager.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
For Registered Nurses with less than five (5) years work experience as an RN, a BSN degree is required or enrollment in a BSN program within 12 months of hire date with BSN degree completed within 4 years of hire date is required.
For Registered Nurses with more than 5 years of work experience as an RN in an acute/inpatient capacity, a BSN degree is not required.
For current Geisinger Registered Nurses who transfer into this position, BSN degree is preferred.
BLS certification preferred and required within 60 days of employment.
ACLS/PALS may be required within 1 year of employment (unit specific).
Duration of on-the-job training to become familiar with job duties varies by individual
BLS certification preferred and required within 60 days of employment.
ACLS certification is required.
CCRN (Certified Critical Care Nurse) credential preferred. Must meet CCRN testing requirements after 6 months of hire. Must have a passing score on the CCRN within 18 months of hire.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is typically performed in an office environment, outpatient clinical settings throughout the system, and at the bedside.
