Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
JOB TITLE: Adult Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider

JOB SUMMARY: To perform in collaboration with the physician, diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to assure that patient care is delivered in a caring and efficient manner throughout the Geisinger Health System in an effort to increase patient satisfaction and patient outcomes. Assists in gathering the data necessary in implementing the therapeutic plan of the physician. Functions as a patient advocate in the medical care system as confidant, advisor and liaison between patients, families and physicians.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Must be a graduate of an ARC approved physician assistant program, eligible or certified by the NCCPA and eligible or licensed the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine. Certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Practitioners and completion of Master’s degree required. Must be eligible for licensure as a nurse practitioner in the state of PA. Current certification in BLS and an updated CPR card required. Degree of professional training to qualify as a physician assistant/nurse practitioner both professionally and legally to perform all services indicated by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and licensure as described in the policy and procedure manual for utilization of physician assistants/nurse practitioners within the Geisinger System required. Completion of an approved graduate program required. Completion of an approved ACLS program preferred.

GEISINGER MEDICAL CENTER (GMC), located in Danville, Pa., the largest tertiary/quaternary care teaching hospital in the region, is licensed for 475 beds, including 89 pediatric beds in the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital. GMC, a Magnet Hospital, maintains the region’s only Level I Regional Resource Trauma Center with additional qualifications in pediatrics. GMC offers an array of highly specialized medical and surgical services, including neurosciences, cardiovascular services, transplantation, women’s health (in the Women’s Pavilion), oncology and orthopaedics. The Hospital for Advanced Medicine serves as an integrated center for the most critical patients. Outpatient services are available on and off campus.
