JOB TITLE: Physician Assistant Orthopaedics
LOCATION: Geisinger Medical Center
WORK SCHEDULE: Day/Evening
WORK TYPE: Full time
To assist with patient care and management under the responsibility and supervision of the surgeon. To perform diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to allow the physician to extend his/her services. Assists in gathering the data necessary in implementing the diagnosis and, thereby, the therapeutic plan of the surgeon.
A major role will be as patient advocate in the medical care system, serving as confidant, advisor, and liaison between patients and physicians.
Reports directly to the surgeon and Chief PA for all patient-care-related functions.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Must have proven ability to work in a team environment.
Demonstrated deep concern for the health and well-being of others. Must be able to deal with patients in such a way as to instill confidence and ease of communication.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Must be a graduate of an ARC-PA (or predecessor organization) approved physician assistant program, eligible or certified by the NCCPA certification and eligible for licensure by the Pennsylvania Board of Medicine.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.

GEISINGER MEDICAL CENTER: (GMC), located in Danville, Pa., the largest tertiary/quaternary care teaching hospital in the region, is licensed for 475 beds, including 89 pediatric beds in the Janet Weis Children's Hospital. GMC, a Magnet Hospital, maintains the region's only Level I Regional Resource Trauma Center with additional qualifications in pediatricis. GMC offers an array of highly specialized medical and surgical services, including neurosciences, cardiovascular services, transplantation, women's health (in the Women's Pavilion), oncology and orthopaedics. The Hospital for Advanced Medicine serves as an integrated center for the most critical patients. Outpatient services are available on and off campus.
