JOB TITLE:Nursing Administrative Supervisor LOCATION: Geisinger Medical Center Hospital DEPARTMENT:Nursing Administration WORK SCHEDULE: Evenings/Nights weekend and holiday rotation WORK TYPE: Full time .9 FTE 72 Hours Biweekly payperiod - Exempt
JOB SUMMARY:
Coordinates and supervises the delivery of nursing care and activities of assigned personnel. Ensures compliance with the directives, policies, applicable laws and regulations. Supports and implements the Nursing Department and Hospital goals and objectives. Coordinates patient flow and assesses appropriate staffing levels throughout the hospital. Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and optimum patient satisfaction.
Responsible for ensuring the very best patient/family experience by optimizing all customer interaction. Foster a positive work environment through mutual support and cooperation and adheres to GHS and unit specific Service Standards.
Reports directly to the Associate Vice President/Vice President, Nursing Services.
SPECIFIC POSITION DUTIES:
Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Assisting and supporting a new or transferred employee through a planned orientation to a specific area.
Demonstrates the capability of making rapid and clinically accurate decisions based on evidence- based practice.
Demonstrates excellent clinical nursing skills, knowledge, judgment and leadership in a multidisciplinary environment.
Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to assure assessment, treatment or care is appropriate to the age of patients served (i.e. neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, geriatrics).
Demonstrates ability to be confident, personable, self-motivated and function with tact and poise in all situations.
Must be able to work and communicate effectively in a team environment.
Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers or workstations.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Required Experience: 3 years of Clinical Nursing Experience required.
Preferred Experience: Previous management experience preferred.
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required
Preferred Education:
Required Certifications or Licensures: Licensed Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania, Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Healthcare provider. Professional certification required, or commitment to obtain within 3 years after hire date.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. Extensive walking is involved, as well as the ability to lift 25 pounds independently and transport equipment and patients throughout the healthcare facility.

GEISINGER MEDICAL CENTER: (GMC), located Danville, Pa., the largest tertiary/quaternary care teaching hospital in the region, is licensed for 475 beds, including 89 pediatric beds in the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital. GMC, a Magnet Hospital, maintains the region’s only Level 1 Regional Resource Trauma Center with additional qualifications in pediatrics.
