Kootenai Health, located in Coeur d’Alene, ID, is hiring an RN Neurosurgical Program Coordinator as our perioperative team continues to grow!

As the Neurosurgical Program Coordinator, you will execute seamless coordination of care for patients experiencing a neurosurgical intervention and will be involved in all aspects of the patient perioperative care, which includes but is not limited to staff education, neurosurgical equipment operation, and troubleshooting, case scheduling, preoperative assessment, preoperative care, surgical care, and postoperative care.
As the Neurosurgical Program Coordinator, you will:
Maintain clinical proficiency in neurosurgery, providing direct patient care as needed
Facilitate case flow, address conflict, and communicate effectively
Work in collaboration with the Director of Perioperative Services to ensure role clarity and staff competency
Proactively review booking sheets and daily schedule for surgeon requests and coordinate equipment needed
Communicate with surgery scheduler and/or leadership team as appropriate to coordinate needs for service and scheduled procedures
Maintain an active presence in operating rooms during surgical procedures for service
Monitor daily work aimed at improving team knowledge and service efficiency (on-time starts, turnover times, etc.)
Actively solicit surgeon input for service improvement, education needs, and products and services offered
Engage surgeons in the development of capital and operational budgets
Educate the neurosurgical team on the unique complexity and precision that is required for each neurosurgical procedure performed and work to maximize team communication and performance
Educate the team to peak performance within the neurosurgical specialty, working in collaboration with the Director of Perioperative Services to assess opportunities to improve performance
Provide leadership and education in the introduction of new technology into service
Develop educational programs for the team related to service specialty, working with the Director of Perioperative Services and Perioperative Nursing Education Specialist to plan and educate the team and physicians on new equipment and supplies
Provide input into staffing assignments and develop and maintains staff competency assessment
Collaborate with Sterile Processing team to identify and resolve sterilization and instrumentation needs related to neurosurgery
Work with resource leads to review the supply needs of the service and balance patient needs with fiscal responsibility
Safeguard employee and patient rights, and promote a safe and healthy work environment.

To be successful in this role, you will need:
Minimum of three years of related experience in the operating room, perioperative area
BSN from an accredited program required
Neuro specialty certification required within one year of hire
