Clinical Nurse Supervisor
University of South Alabama
Supervises staff to include scheduling, assigning duties, checking work, preparing performance evaluations, approving time off, and handling disciplinary issues; keeps supervisor abreast of clinical cost of care, administrative issues, and patient outcomes; assists in developing goals and objectives for nursing services and conducts periodic assessment of accomplishments, reflected in annual report; oversees the day-to-day operations of nursing services, adhering to approved budget; ensures that Quality Improvement activities are carried out effectively and efficiently on an ongoing basis; promotes, organizes, implements, and evaluates quantitative systems for monitoring, measuring, and managing quality of care provided; facilitates collection of data for use in quality improvement findings, utilization, and productivity metrics; ensures compliance with applicable HCFA, risk management, OSHA, CLIA, federal and state regulations; coordinates, implements, and maintains risk management program to protect life and welfare of patients, employees, and visitors; prioritizes the safety and welfare of patients, employees, and visitors, facilitating a culture of "Safety First"; coordinates corrective and preventive measures regarding occurrences; conducts nursing meetings, collaborating with medical records staff, as needed; performs clinical nurse activities, as needed including assisting providers, triaging patients, performing special procedures, administering injections, and dispensing medications; assists in implementation of impending Electronic Medical Records and provides input regarding process; interacts with vendors; facilitates the implementation of new systems and processes; assists in research and grant activity; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required; related duties as required. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing meeting the minimum standards set by the state of Alabama, four years professional nursing experience, two of which included oversight of clinical operations and licensure with the state of Alabama as a registered nurse. A bachelor's degree in nursing will substitute for one year of the required experience.
