The Trauma Coordinator is a professional nurse who has the responsibility to monitor trauma patient care through the trauma performance improvement process throughout the patient hospital stay from pre-hospital, hospital stay through discharge disposition. Assures compliance with DSHS trauma center standards and audit filters requirements, and/or ACS respective trauma center standards, as it may apply under the direct supervision of the Trauma Services System Director. The Coordinator provides staff education to providers, nursing and ancillary staff as guided by the trauma performance improvement process. The coordinator participates in a leadership role in the hospital and regional trauma related committees. Documents and monitors the Trauma Program Performance Improvement (PI) activities. Collaborates with the trauma registry team to assure trauma patient registry inclusion criteria, accurate injury severity scoring and timely submission to respective entities is met. Responsible for development and updates of internal trauma related policies and procedures.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Current state registration or eligibility to do so.
BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC or ATCN within the first 6 months of hire.
