Desert Regional Medical Center is a 385 bed acute-care hospital classified as a stroke receiving center and level 2 trauma facility with an innovative , patient centered and evidence-based Rehabilitation Services Department. Our compassionate team provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics.
The clinical nurse assumes principal responsibility for the total care assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of each assigned patient.
The clinical nurse initiates teaching and educates the patient and family and/or significant other to attain optimal health.
The clinical nurse is responsible for adhering to all standards of nursing care.
Department Specific Duties:
ï¿½Validates and documents correct patient, procedure, and site.
ï¿½Responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the operating room and other areas of perioperative services for all patient populations.
ï¿½Insures appropriate preparation of the operating room and patient for specific procedures.
ï¿½Plans care to insure a safe peri-operative experience for patient and staff
ï¿½Perioperative plan of care
ï¿½Protect patient from injury
ï¿½Perform count procedures to protect patient
ï¿½Insure correct site, side, and level for procedure
ï¿½Manage specimens in appropriate manner
ï¿½Administer medications appropriately
ï¿½Protect patientï¿½s rights, dignity, and privacy
ï¿½Delegate tasks appropriately according to CA nurse practice act
ï¿½Document nursing care
ï¿½Participate in performance improvement
ï¿½Maintain required competencies
ï¿½Act as patient advocate
ï¿½Graduate of accredited professional nursing program
ï¿½Current RN licensure in the State of California.
ï¿½Current American Heart Association BLS certification (maintain current at all times).
ï¿½Prior clinical experience is desired.
ï¿½Effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate with people on all levels and able to maintain positive working relationships with patients, families, and co-workers inter- and intra-departmentally.
ï¿½Possess active listening skills.
ï¿½Demonstrates knowledge of current nursing theory and practice.
ï¿½Compassionate, non-judgmental patient caregiver and advocate.
ï¿½Must be able to tolerate physically and mentally demanding work.
ï¿½Possesses audible acuity necessary for taking blood pressures and maintaining patient safety.
ï¿½Completion of mandatory programs to meet TJC standards is a job requirement.
