Work Performed Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physicianin diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescrib ing necessarytreatment and services for quality patientcare; record the normal andabnormal data for review by the physician.Take patienthistori es, conduct physical examinations, and record the date in thepatient's r ecord; write progress notes; prepare patient workups andsummaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings; obtainpsychosocial history re levant to patient care, and assumeresponsibility for developing therapeu tic relationships with patients.Order and schedule laboratory studies an d diagnosticprocedures; explain necessity, preparation, nature and antic ipatedeffects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to thep atient.Carry out therapeutic procedures such as castapplication and remo val, wound suturing and dressing changes; monitorprogress of patients, r eport progress to supervising physician, andmaintain record of each pati ent's progress, consulting with supervisingphysician when patient's prog ressdoes notmeet anticipated and/orpredetermined criteria.Participate in basic science andclinical research projects conducted by supervising physician; preparestatistical reports and analyses setting forth progres s, adverse trendsand appropriate recommendations or conclusions.Review t he workof lower rated employees; train new personnel.Participate inteach ing students and residents in techniques and procedures which areunique to specific clinical setting. Experience No experience required. 3 years of RN experience strongly preferred. Degrees, Licensures, Certifications Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required. National certification as a NP required prior to or within 6 months of employment.
