The VA Western Colorado Health Care System (WCHCS) is a Level 2 facility with service-lines serving medical, surgical, neurological, and psychiatric inpatients and outpatients, with a Level III Emergency Department, multiple VA Clinics, and a Community Living Center (CLC). There is a significant outpatient psychiatric population, with admissions for medical co-morbidities. Home-Based Primary Care (HBPC) and telehealth nursing care is also provided. Duties include but are not limited to the following: The incumbent practices good customer service in all work activities, treating Veterans, their families/ representatives, visitors, and other employees in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner. Willing to work cooperatively as a member of a team in all assignments. The incumbent consistently protects printed and electronic files containing sensitive data in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974 and other applicable laws, federal regulations, Veterans Administration (VA) statutes and policy, and Veterans Health Administration (VHA) policy. Enforces appropriate infection control practices for disease prevention, i.e., hand washing, standard precautions, and isolation procedures, including tuberculosis (TB) requirement/precautions. Incumbent will be self-directed in completing on-going education. Will ensure they have completed all required annual competency checklists. Oversees a full range of nursing care to patients with complex care needs utilizing the nursing process based on the American Nurses Association (ANA) Standards of Nursing Practice. Ensures the initiation and implementation of an interdisciplinary plan of care based on basic assessments. Accurately documents in the medical record patient findings, assessments, and care provided. Effectively functions in the leadership role, guiding and directing others who provide patient care. Uses a team approach to identify, analyze, and resolve patient care problems that result in improved patient outcomes. Demonstrates grade-appropriate and consistent critical thinking skills. Uses the CPRS and the Bar-Coded Medication Administration (BCMA) software per policy. Work Schedule: Varies tours available on as needed basis. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
