Community Benefit is a form of public trust that results in nonprofit hospitals obtaining tax-exempt status. Community benefit covers a full range of services and activities provided by nonprofit hospitals that address the cause and impact of health-related needs. Community benefit refers to the initiatives and activities undertaken by nonprofit hospitals to improve health in the communities they serve. These services and activities result in benefit to the community.
The Community Health Coordinator position works within AdventHealth West Florida Division Community Benefit Department and facilitates the implementation and management of Community Benefit activities in addition to tracking health outcome data to report progress and provide evaluation of community health improvement goals. This position will associate population health improvements with community benefit by identifying best practices to improve quality of life and reduce health disparities in the community.
You Will Be Responsible For:
Project management, implementation, and coordination of community health and related programs in the provider service area of the West Florida Division (WFD).
Develops, implements, and evaluates the day to day operational activities of assigned community health programs.
Assist WFD Community Benefit Director and WFD Community Benefit Managers with tracking community health program efforts and outcomes for annual IRS-required Community Benefit reporting.
Integration of WFD policy, systems, and environmental changes within programs.
Operates community health programs within current & forecasted budget constraints.
Identifies stakeholders, community assets, and resources to impact community health programs.
Develop community health networks among religious and community organizations, as well as other types of organizations, such as health care centers, etc.
Travel 50% of the time
What You Will Need:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
B.S. or B.A. in Public Health/Social Science/Social Work/Community Health
0-2 years experience in planning, management, and implementation of community health programs
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
Must have valid, clear Florida driver’s license and reliable vehicle for self-transport to complete job duties which may cross county lines
