This position is not eligible for telework. Uniform allowance is not authorized. The Nurse Manager (NM) is a registered professional nurse who is accountable to the Chief Nurse. The NM functions as a supervisor and assumes accountability for the operation of a designated unit, identified procedure areas, and clinics. This includes the management, supervision, and evaluation of care delivered by nursing and other allied health care staff. The NM is responsible for contributing to the establishment and implementation of evidence-based nursing standards of practice. In collaboration with the Chief Nurse, creates a safe, positive work environment which enhances care delivery and professional development of clinically competent staff. Promotes, creates, demonstrates, and ensures a culturally diverse workforce in which the values and needs of all individuals are respected and supported. The NM is accountable for the supervision and direction of the delivery of patient care by nursing personnel and is responsible for the coordination of activities at the unit level, distribution of resources and maintaining a patient centered care environment. responsible for the planning, integrating, implementing, modifying and evaluating the effectiveness of the Veteran's care. This nurse demonstrates collaboration by using the group process to solve problems. The focus is on leadership in strategically planning long-term goals for the microsystem (unit, team, or workgroup) that impacts operations or resources. Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital is a Level 1a major interdisciplinary teaching facility with service- lines serving medical, surgical, and neurological inpatients and outpatients, with a comprehensive adult Emergency Department, and multiple community-based outpatient clinics (CBOC). There is a large outpatient psychiatric population, with admissions for medical co-morbidities. The Hines VA Hospital Blind Rehabilitation Center provides services in a residential setting.
