This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Learn more A registered nurse in the Emergency Department plans and provides for emergency and immediate care for a variety of acutely ill patients in a level 3 ED which specializes in treating adults and geriatrics with acute and chronic health conditions. The patient population includes but is not limited to acute medical conditions: respiratory, cardiac emergencies, GI, neuro, gynecological, endocrine disorders, back problems and HIV/AIDS, surgical conditions and psychiatric conditions. Demonstrates technical and operational knowledge of emergency nursing and demonstrates ability to apply these skills in the clinical setting. Operates specialized therapeutic and life support equipment. Accountable and assigned as a primary nurse for a defined group of patients on his or her tour.
