This announcement covers vacancies in multiple units/clinics within the Loma Linda VA Health Care System, As a COVID RN Screener ,Vaccination or Specimen Collector you will be under the direction of the Nurse Manager, she/he is responsible for providing indirect and/or direct patient care to an assigned group of patients. He/she will performs as a screening nurse triaging patients entering the facility according to the employee and COVID 19 algorithm. Administers COVID Vaccinations per guideline. Maintains record of both internal and external facility flow of traffic, and documents candidates screened by primary and secondary registered nurse screeners. Participates in interdisciplinary meetings and maintains current knowledge of CDC guidelines for COVID 19. Responsible for providing results for COVID-19 positive patients. Collaborate with the PACT providers for completing the PUI form and faxing it to the county public office .Provide flu shots for patients and veterans at the flu station and documents appropriately She/he is responsible to obtain laboratory specimens during their designated shift for patient's seen in the unit. She/he will have the knowledge, skill and experience to carry out assignments involving data gathering, treatments and assisting with patient/family education.- Maintains the laboratory facilities and equipment and controls supplies- Determines compliance with safety requirements, establishes inventory and equipment maintenance. Maintains laboratory stock and orders materials, as needed.- Maintains laboratory stock and orders materials, as needed.- Functions as primary point of contact for implementation of safety regulations and safe working conditions and is accountable to supervisor to report conditions and progress on eliminating discrepancies.- Performs specimen collection in accordance with facility and laboratory policies and procedures.- Assures all test tubes are labeled accurately when collecting specimens and using facility and laboratory designated patient identifiers.- Wears proper PPE when collecting specimens- Collects specimens according to the Covid-19 Specimen Collection process- Ensures disinfection of all equipment in between each specimen collection and changes gloves.- Collaborates with EMS to maintain disinfection of specimen rooms by the completion of business day.- Verifies correct patient identification, performs proper specimen handling and labeling, accessions specimens, checks that lab test requests are consistent with physician orders, generates labels and sorts labeled specimens to be distributed to specific laboratory sections.- Incumbent works closely with facility and laboratory computers systems, CPRS and Vista to accession specimens and retrieve results.- Ensures safe and non-traumatic processes are used with critical concern for the donor and for the quality of the specimen while using standard aseptic procedures and safeguards. Controls contaminated or potentially dangerous specimens in accordance with accreditation agency requirements. May be required/able to work in other area's as needed by the facility, to include: Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Units; Outpatient Mental Health Division; Community Living Center Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation unit - (CLC); Home Based Primary Care (HBPC); Home Telehealth; Primary Care Clinic/Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT); Med/Surg - Oncology and Neurology; Telemetry/Step Down Unit; Post-Operative Care (PACU); Short Stay Unit (SSU); Emergency Department (ED); Operating Room (OR); Surgical Unit/Step Down Unit (SDU) Intermediate care unit; Medical and Surgical Intensive Care Units (CCU/MICU/SICU); Cardiology and Cath Lab; Gastroenterology or Endoscopy; Oncology/Infusion Clinic; Specialty Clinics and other Specialty Areas (Flu Clinic).
