The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System is recruiting for Registered Nurses to work in the Medical Units (Cardiac, Oncology, Neuro, General Med/Surg) at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center, Gainesville, FL. The Medicine Units specialize in the medical care of an array of patients including, but not limited to, patients with neurological, pulmonary, endocrine, hematologic and cardiac disorders. We also serve as an Epilepsy Center of Excellence as well as provide oncology services including chemotherapy administration. All Medical Units are equipped with telemetry monitoring capability. Experience with patient assessment and communication, IV therapy including continuous medication infusions, use of central lines and telemetry is preferred. Effective use of computerized medication administration and documentation is required. The Nursing Service department encourages individual and team accountability and shared decision-making while applying current Joint Commission standards using Evidenced Based practice. Duties Include: Assesses patient's biopsychosocial needs Formulates a plan of care based on nursing and healthcare team assessments Provides nursing care to meet patient's needs Evaluates patient status and response to care; recognizes actual or potential changes in patients' condition and response to treatment, initiating appropriate action and revising the care plan accordingly Documents the nursing process Initiates effective, appropriate, and safe actions in emergencies Recognizes medical/psychiatric emergencies and initiates and guides others in the implementation of appropriate and timely actions Treats customers in a courteous and helpful manner that indicates dignity and respect Ensures that, within the scope of duties, confidential information is at all times safeguarded Work Schedule: 12 hours shifts in a 24/7 environment, day shift and night shifts available Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: A recruitment/relocation incentive may be considered for highly qualified candidates.
