University of Minnesota Physicians seeks a Certified Physician Assistant or Certified Nurse Practitioner to join the University of Minnesota Physicians Adult Epilepsy Neurology team. In this role, you will work with a collaborative team of physicians, nurses, EEG technologists and administrative staff to provide comprehensive health care at the M Physician's St. Louis Park Clinic.
This position is primarily outpatient focused. Position will also support of the epilepsy patients admitted to the inpatient program at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. The patient population served includes patients newly diagnosed with seizures, patients following a diagnostic or surgical path of care, patients with neuromodulation implanted devices for the treatment of epilepsy and patients with complicated chronic management of seizures requiring long-term management.
The APP is an experienced member of the healthcare team who uses advanced practice skill with the supervision and collaboration of the licensed physicians to provide comprehensive health care services to adult people with epilepsy. This includes, but is not limited to, inpatient and outpatient initial and follow-up evaluation, progress notes, imaging and laboratory result evaluation as well as discharge orders, planning and summaries. APP will be expected to provider routine and emergency follow up care for people with epilepsy. As the position progresses, the APP will be expected to independently staff and outpatient clinic with appropriate support.
The PA or NP functions as a communication liaison between patient/family, consultants, and multi-professional teammates. As a member of the team of Adult Epilepsy Team, the PA/NP actively collaborates with and mentors medical students, residents, and fellows.
Participation in clinical research and quality improvement projects is encouraged and will be supported. APP is encouraged to participate and present of national scientific and clinical conferences. APP positions receive CME funds each year.
The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday.
A qualified candidate will be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and formal Nurse Practitioner training program or a graduate of an accredited Physician's Assistant program. Have a current MN RN license and be approved or eligible by the Minnesota Board of Nursing for prescription writing privileges or a current PA license with prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice. Be certified through ANA / AANC or eligible for ANA/AANC national exam or through the NCCPA and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges.
New graduate and experienced candidates with adult neurology and/or specialized epilepsy care experience are encouraged to apply.
