Porter's 33-bed Emergency Department is an accredited Level III Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center, Chest Pain Center, and is staffed with board-certified emergency physicians, and critically trained nurses. Porter's ED specializes in treatment of complex medical illness, injuries including trauma, stroke, sepsis, and cardiovascular emergencies. The ED has implemented many patient care improvement initiatives including excellence in behavioral health, direct-to-Cath Lab, and nurse-driven geriatric trauma protocols. The Porter ED was honored to be recognized as a 2019 Lantern Award recipient. ED nurse candidates possess good critical thinking and assessment skills, work well within a close interdisciplinary team, and enjoy treating a broad spectrum of patient populations. Job description:Actively support department director/manager by coordinating clinical and department activities for the unit including shift charge, department and/or service line. Ensure that care is delivered to each patient in accordance with quality standards. Act as liaison between physicians and patient care team. Maintain communication and promote cooperation with unit staff and other departments. Supervise the staff; authorize work procedures and assign duties. Provides input and recommendations to the director/manager on coaching, mentoring and performance management of associates. Promote the optimal health, well-being and safety of the patient through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines and the State Nurse Practice Act. Personally, accountable for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values.What You Bring/Job Requirements:In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following: * One year of recent Registered Nurse ED/ER nursing experience required* Associate's Degree in Nursing required* Registered Nurse License required; Current RN license in applicable state of work or current RN license from a participating state in National Licensure Compact for eligible states* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association certification required* ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire or transfer* ENPC and TNCC required within six months of hire or transfer* STABLE and NRP required within six months of hire or transfer* NIHSS required within six months of hire or transfer* Department covers cost of certifications required within six months listed above* ANCC; National Nursing Certification ANCC approved is strongly preferred* National Nursing Certification in Specialty Area (refer to facility addendum)* Credential: Nursing SpecPhysical Requirements - Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly) Shift: 7p-7a, 36 hours per week.
