Operates an electroencephalograph to measure impulse frequencies and differences in electrical potential between various areas of the brain to obtain data for use in diagnosis of brain disorders. Studies wave characteristics during test to detect evidence of brain disorders and may mark graph accordingly for study by physician or neurologist. Writes reports indicating unusual wave characteristics shown on tracings.
Responsibilities:
Performs EKG's utilizing the Marquette MAC VU, 12, 8 and PC machines
Performs electrocardiograms for in-patient and outpatient population including all ages
Performs routine EEG's, Long term video EEG monitoring for evaluation of possible abnormal brain activity and for epilepsy and medicine modification
Performs Transcranial Doppler studies for evaluation of cerebral blood flow
Performs accurate Evoked Potential recording (Visual Evoked Responses, and Modified Baer)
Performs Holter monitor hookup and the scanning of holter monitor tapes
Performs 12 or 24-hour pneumogram hook-up with or without pulse oximetry for in-patient pediatrics and neonates
Performs cardiac exercise treadmill testing, routine, and pharmacological and Tilt table stress
Schedules all patients for any and all procedures performed in the department that require an appointment
Maintains all diagnostic equipment by assuring that they are properly functioning and cleaned after every patient
Notifies physician daily for exam interpretation and files reports
Checks weekly for needed supplies
