Grady Health System is pleased to announce a national search for their next Senior Vice President and Chief of Cancer Services of the Grady Cancer Center.
Since its founding in 1892, Grady Health System (Grady) has remained dedicated to meeting the evolving healthcare needs of its community. From pioneering Georgia’s first open-heart surgery in the 1920s to establishing the nation’s first neurological surgical suite within a dedicated stroke center in 2013, Grady has consistently led in medical innovation. Today, the health system continues its commitment to providing high-quality care for all, with a strong emphasis on serving the underserved while offering specialized medical services across the region.
The Senior Vice President and Chief of Cancer Services will partner with Grady leadership, Morehouse School of Medicine, Emory School of Medicine, Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University (Winship) and the Morehouse Cancer Health Equity Institute in developing and leading the strategic direction of the Grady Cancer Center. The SVP, Chief of Cancer Services will work to achieve quality and safety, work experience, patient experience, health equity and growth and financial strength goals of the Grady Cancer Center. The SVP will support the infrastructure for clinical trials and will partner to strengthen the delivery of cancer care throughout the continuum of care. The SVP, Chief of Cancer Services will directly report to Grady’s Chief Medical Officer. In addition, the leader will partner with the Executive Director of the Winship Cancer Institute and the Director of the Cancer Health Equity Institute for all appropriate areas. They will be expected to work closely with the Grady-based Dean’s offices from both Emory and Morehouse Schools of Medicine.
This role requires a dynamic leader with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve excellence. The ideal candidate will possess strong negotiation skills, balancing stakeholder interests while making data-driven, strategic decisions. A transparent and collaborative leadership style is essential, along with a deep commitment to institutional mission and values. Effective resource management, the ability to optimize operations, and a strategic mindset are critical for success. The SVP / Chief must excel at building partnerships across institutions, communities, and healthcare organizations, fostering a results-driven approach to innovation. Beyond technical expertise, the SVP must be a strong advocate for health equity, ensuring that underserved communities receive quality cancer care. High emotional intelligence, empathy, and self-awareness will be essential to fostering a culture of inclusion and collaboration. Additionally, exceptional communication skills will be required to engage diverse audiences, from executive leadership to frontline clinicians. The Senior Vice President and Chief of Cancer Services of the Grady Cancer Center will play a pivotal role in improving patient outcomes, advancing clinical research, and enhancing community health, solidifying Grady’s position as a leader in comprehensive, equitable oncology care.
Qualified candidates will hold an MD, DO, or MBBS equivalent medical degree. They will have specialty training and leadership experience in a cancer-specific clinical discipline. Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Georgia.
